Villammare Film Festival, organized by the Villammare Film Festival - Gulf of Policastro Association with the collaboration of the Municipality of Vibonati and the support of 105 TV, takes place in the picturesque seaside village of Villammare, in the province of Salerno, at the end of the summer. Born as a simple competition between short films, it added the competition among feature films, becoming a worth cinematographic film event able to showcase new talents, investigate current issues and problems in the sector, and promote films and directors that are valid but difficult to distribute, with an eye on early works and previews.
Over the years there have been many characters from the world of cinema and culture who took turns on the stage of the Villammare Film Festival, offering many intellectual ideas and thus contributing to the growth of the event. Just to name a few: Lina Wertmüller, Giorgio Arlorio, Citto Maselli, Giulio Scarpati, Vittorio Giacci, Gigliola Scola, Anna Pavignano, Daniela Poggi, Lello Arena, Maurizio Casagrande, Fabio Fulco, Federico Moccia, Francesco Paolantoni …
Villlammare Film Festival can count on a wide selection of international short films, also coming from countries with lesser known cinemas, such as Taiwan, Syria, Iran, Turkey, Estonia, Sweden ... Several of those presented at the Festival have obtained national awards or their directors were rewarded. For example Andrea Jublin near to the Oscars with his short film, or to Pippo Mezzapesa, winner of the David di Donatello.
The Villammare Film Festival has always been attentive to all the facets of the cinema and takes into particular consideration the role of the soundtracks to which one of the scheduled evenings is dedicated. So great musicians such as Luis Bacalov, Nicola Piovani, Gerardo di Lella and his big band, Stefano Mainetti, Manuel De Sica, Stelvio Cipriani ... have come to this event.
The Villammare Festival is an all-round cultural event.
